Meet Our Team

At the heart of our tours is a commitment to authenticity and local expertise. We believe that the best way to experience the unique beauty of the mountains and islands is through the eyes of those who call them home. That’s why all our guides are locals who have spent their lives immersed in these stunning landscapes.

Whether it’s navigating the winding trails of the mountains or exploring hidden gems on the islands, our guides bring unmatched knowledge and passion to every tour. They know every peak, valley, and shoreline, along with the stories, traditions, and secrets that make these places so special.

Our guides don’t just work here—they live and breathe these landscapes. In their free time, you’ll find them hiking, cycling, or simply enjoying the nature around them. Their deep connection to the area ensures that your experience is not only expertly guided but also infused with genuine love for the land.

When you join us, you’re not just following a guide—you’re being welcomed into the local way of life. Let our experts show you the places they cherish, the trails they know by heart, and the beauty they’ve spent a lifetime exploring. With their guidance, your adventure will be as authentic and unforgettable as the destinations themselves.

I live on the island of Rab, surrounded by the sea, wind, forests, and mountains that have shaped both my life and my work. For me, outdoor adventure has never been about speed, records, or conquering nature. It is about moving through landscapes with respect, curiosity, and enough time to truly experience them.

I founded Sea Kayak Croatia Expeditions in 2007, long before sea kayaking became widely known along the Adriatic. Over the years, I have guided countless multi-day expeditions, slowly paddling around islands, sleeping under the stars, and exploring places that can only be reached by human power. My long-term personal project is to circumnavigate all Croatian islands and islets by sea kayak, following a philosophy I later named Relaxploration.

Perun Adventures grew naturally from this same mindset. While kayaking remains at my core, my love for hiking, cycling, and exploring the Velebit mountains and the islands of the northern Adriatic led me to expand beyond the sea. Perun — the Slavic god of lightning and a powerful symbol of the Velebit range — reflects both the energy of movement and the deep connection to place.

I work with small groups, experienced local guides, and carefully chosen routes that avoid crowds and highlight lesser-known landscapes. Whether we are paddling along a remote coastline, hiking ancient shepherd paths, or cycling quiet gravel roads, the goal is always the same: to slow down enough to notice where we are.

I believe that good guiding is not about leading from the front, but about reading people, conditions, and the land, and making thoughtful decisions that keep everyone safe while leaving space for discovery. My approach is calm, flexible, and grounded in many years of hands-on experience in real conditions.

When I’m not guiding, you’ll usually find me somewhere outdoors — paddling, walking, working on land projects, or quietly planning the next route. I continue to learn from the places I move through, and I see Perun Adventures as an ongoing journey rather than a finished product.

If you join one of my trips, you won’t just be following an itinerary — you’ll be sharing a way of traveling that values nature, simplicity, and meaningful experience over checklists and speed.

I have spent nearly two decades exploring, guiding, and interpreting the landscapes of the northern Adriatic, the island of Rab, and the Velebit mountains. For me, guiding is more than leading people along a path — it is about reading the land, understanding its history, and helping others see it in a deeper way.

I run my own guiding project, Pato’s Logic, where I combine storytelling, history, and personal observation to show visitors not just where they are, but why it matters. Whether walking across Goli Otok, tracing the coastline, or hiking through hidden mountain trails, I aim to connect people to the story of the place — its natural patterns, its history, and the subtle rhythms of life that we often overlook.

Working with Perun Adventures allows me to bring this same philosophy into multi-day hiking, cycling, and kayaking expeditions. I focus on creating safe, thoughtful experiences where guests can move at their own pace while discovering the quiet details of the landscape. My role is to support, observe, and guide — not to rush — letting the journey itself be the teacher.

I enjoy combining the practical, hands-on aspects of guiding — route planning, weather assessment, gear management — with the intellectual and emotional side of travel: storytelling, reflection, and deep curiosity. My goal is simple: to help people see, feel, and understand the places we move through, leaving with a sense of connection, insight, and calm wonder.

For me, every tour is not just a trip — it is a shared journey of observation, discovery, and respect for the land and its history.

Šime Sušić
Šime SušićCEO & Founder

My name is Šime Sušić, and I am Croatia’s first MasterChef. Cooking has been my lifelong passion, but for me it has always been about more than recipes — it’s about understanding ingredients, respecting tradition, and creating experiences that bring people together.

Winning MasterChef Croatia pushed me to grow and experiment, teaching me not only the technical skills of cooking but also how to tell a story through food. I believe that every meal has a narrative — of place, of culture, of the people who create and enjoy it.

Beyond the kitchen, I am a passionate fisherman, cyclist, and runner, always seeking the next adventure along the Adriatic coast or through the islands. My 50-day kayaking expedition around 47 inhabited Croatian islands allowed me to explore not just the landscapes but also the local foods, traditions, and ways of life. These experiences continue to inspire how I cook, plan trips, and connect guests to the land.

In my role with Perun Adventures, I bring the culinary side of exploration to life. Whether it’s preparing meals on multi-day tours, sourcing fresh local ingredients, or sharing stories over dinner, my goal is to make food a memorable part of the adventure — something that nourishes the body, sparks curiosity, and connects people to the world around them.
